Staying alert in the community

You do not need to be certain a crime has occurred to report suspicious activity. Trust your instincts and let law enforcement investigate.

What Counts as Suspicious?

  • Unknown vehicles parked for extended periods near homes or businesses
  • People going door-to-door without identification or a clear purpose
  • Unusual noises at odd hours ??breaking glass, alarms, or shouting
  • Someone appearing to watch or photograph homes, schools, or public buildings
  • Property being loaded into vehicles at unusual times
  • Attempts to open locked doors, windows, or vehicles

What to Note When Reporting

Provide as much detail as possible without putting yourself at risk:

  • Date, time, and exact location
  • Physical descriptions of people involved
  • Vehicle make, model, color, and license plate
  • Direction of travel if the person or vehicle left the area
  • What specifically caught your attention

Stay Safe

Never confront suspicious individuals yourself. Do not follow suspects. Move to a safe location and report what you observed. If there is immediate danger, contact local emergency services.
